The lens I took this with got stolen from my luggage on a flight to Sweden recently. Pity as it was one of my favorites. Very sharp, very light, very affordable.

Silver city walls

These images were created in Silver City, New Mexico some time ago. Silver city has one of the best playgrounds you'll find anywhere around the area so if you find yourself in southwest New Mexico with kids, head to Silver City and find the playground. The town also has an older area with lots of interesting structures to photograph. Here are two images that I liked mostly because of the color and composition. Enjoy.

DYC!

Yellow flowers along the Enchanted Forest Trail in Apex open space. I snapped this with my iPhone on my mountain bike ride yesterday. In May these flowers show up for a few days in large numbers. I photographed them before (See here for example) but have never been able to photograph them in numbers this large.

Solar eclipse 2012

We only had a partial one here and lacking any really high ND filters, I just made a simple pinhole camera to show the eclipse to the kids. I punched a approximately 1 mm hole in a metal cap of something and used that to project an image from the sun. Worked great as you can see below. Nice low-tech solution and to complete the low-techness I photographed it using my cellphone. Due to the way a pinhole camera works, the image is upside down (and mirrored but that is not that important here). We also did not have a full eclipse in the Denver area. The light was very interesting for a short while though with the sun mostly covered.

This image was created looking out over De Lek river towards the rising sun. As a child and teenager I spent lots of time swimming from these sandbars near the river as well as sailing it. On the opposite side of the river is Langerak and Nieuwpoort where our old wooden sailboat was usually in the harbor.
